Mosquito
There are over three thousand types of mosquitoes throughout the world - about 150 of those are found in the United States. Mosquitoes can carry diseases such as malaria, dengue fever and The West Nile Virus. Only female mosquitoes bite and extract blood which is used to nourish eggs. Male mosquitoes feed on nectar.

There are up to 80 different types of mosquitoes found in Florida. The most dangerous is the Asian Tiger Mosquito since it is known for spreading Malaria in the US.
Facts To Know:
Reproduction: A mosquito can lay up to 300 eggs at one time and up to 3,000 eggs through her entire lifespan. Mosquito eggs mature within a couple weeks time.
Lifespan: This varies on species, but females will live 3-100 days while males live 10-20 on average.
Living Area: Mosquitoes will typically stay within a mile radius of their breeding site. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in or near standing/still water.
